zircon (n) usually a brown or red gemstone. Often zircon is heat-treated to produce a blue or colourless gem. Its adamantine lustre and high colour dispersion make colourless variants of zircon appear similar to diamond. As a gemstone it is relatively unpopular. This may be due to confusion between zircon and cubic-zirconia. The latter is well-known as a synthetic. Zircon, however, is naturally-occurring.
zoisite (n) is a mineral which includes tanzanite (blue), thulite (pink or red) and anyolite (green). Sometimes anyolite is found twinned with ruby crystals which creates a gemstone with a pink-green gradient known - quite literally - as ruby-in-zoisite.
