By Woody Allen's own admission, The Curse of the Jade Scorpion is about an insurance investigator (Woody Allen) and an efficiency expert (Elizabeth Berkley) who are hypnotised by a scorpion made from jade. In spite of the relative poorness of the film, it still makes Mochishop's "jewellery in film" list if only for its explicit reference to jade ornamentation and the fact that the major storyline is about a jewellery heist:
Under the hypnotise influence of the jade ornament, the characters portrayed by Allen and Berkley are compelled to steal expensive jewellery. The hypnotically spell is activated and deactivated with the respective buzz-words Madagascar and Constantinople.
