The Significance of Ox Bone in Tribal Jewellery

oxThe great thing about tribal jewelry is that you often find jewelry is made from unusual, exciting material which you wouldn't associate with more traditional types of jewellery.

One such special material Mochishop uses in its jewellery is ox-bone. Ox-bone is significant because the ox - or Yak - is found in the mountainous Tibetan landscape. Consequently, the use of ox-bone in jewellery is uniquely Tibetan.

That is why much of Mochishop's ox-bone jewellery incoroporates Tibetan designs onto the surface of the bone. Consider our necklace featuring the mystical symbol 'Om', for example. Or our Tibetan necklaces which feature Tibetan patterns.

Moreover, a little further east, in China, the ox is also significant as it features in the Chinese zodiac and connotes the following epithets: Dependable, calm, methodical, born leader, patient, hardworking, ambitious, conventional, steady, modest, logical, resolute, tenacious.

These oxen attributes are represented in our ox-bone jewelry, in the way we design and craft every piece. If you are looking something different to conventional jewellery, if you are looking for something which is exciting and exotic, then our ox-bone jewellery is just the thing you are looking for.
